Maryland union reaches agreement with USM, Gov. Wes Moore over withheld pay raises

The University System of Maryland and Gov. Wes Moore agreed Tuesday to pay out the funding promised to university employees in a previously negotiated contract after months of delays.
The raises, which will start Jan. 1, include a 2.5 percent merit increase and a base–pay increase of $500, the Maryland chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees wrote in a Wednesday statement. This increase will go to nearly 5,700 university employees across the system, Moore wrote in a separate statement.
